Hi, I’m Maria, a Portuguese creative living in Lisbon, though I grew up around the world.

Most of my work, which you can find on my website, Cri(ar) by Maria Garcia, circles around culture, society, self-expression, and the ways we grow through change.

In Portuguese, criar means to create. In Cri(ar), the word carries two parts: the act of creating, and ‘ar’, meaning air, symbolizing freedom and adaptability. It reflects both my roots and the way I approach my work.

I’m interested in creativity as a way of relating to time and change, to culture and work, and to ourselves, one another and the great beyond. Not as output alone, but as a way of being in dialogue with life.
